"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:45
Nobody wants to be a servant these days it seems sometimes. A lot of folks want to be served, but they don't want to serve. It's like being a servant is demeaning. Most don't aspire to be the help. They want to be the master.
But The Master was a servant. Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, called himself a servant. As a matter if fact he said he came here to serve and to save. Maybe, just maybe, serving others is one of the greatest expressions of God's love. If the God of the universe, the Lord God Almighty, creator and our Maker can stoop down and wash the dusty dirty feet of his disciples, then maybe I can feed a child who is hungry. I can read to a child. Visit or run errand for an elderly person. Visit someone who is sick. Bag the groceries for a frustrated mother at the grocery store.
Being "the help" is a privilege. The bible says God is a very present help in the time of trouble. If it's good enough for God and Jesus , it's good enough for me.
How has Jesus been your help?
I praise Jesus for being my helper who...
I thank him for...
